Post-production notes regarding the demos. If we find any problems with the demos, we will post the information here. Have you found any problems?

  1. ActiveX Class Library demo cannot be run from this site. ODBC can be used in restricted environments, but the demo provided here does not implement security controls. The demo will work fine whereever there is a D3 system running the ODBC server.
  2. MS Word demo on the CD contains code which will only work when connecting to an NT-based web server. The Word document on this site has an updated version that will connect to NT and Unix web servers. If you need to use Word with a Unix server, please "Save As" the document from this site and replace the version on your site. This has been corrected in the second run of the CD.
  3. ColdFusion demo cannot be run from demo.picksys.com at this time. The ColdFusion Server is not yet available.
  4. The Primary Requirements page says the demos have not been run over a Unix web server. With the exception of the Word demo mentioned above, all demos are running fine on demo.picksys.com which us using D3 over Linux 6.1 and Apache.
  5. The MS Agent demo may not require any component load or setup if Agent is already loaded to the client PC. If another character is already on the client system, that character will be used instead of the default Genie character. If you already have used MS Agent technology, try running the demo without loading other components. Note that voice recognition components are not usually loaded with MS Agent, so if you want to talk to D3, you should still go through the Requirements & Setup.
  6. The MS Agent demo has a small bug when run over a Unix/Linux D3 environment: The 'Do Where Status' command does not identify the proper port number: In fdemos,bp, agent1, modify line 136:
    From: 136 port = info[ct+1,3]
To: 136 port = trim( info[ct+1,4] ) This has been corrected in the second run of the CD.
